Easter Reflections: Embracing the Power of Faith and Unity in a Divided World

A personal message from Jeffrey J. Hovermale, Founder & CEO of Robo Advisor™

As the Founder and CEO of Robo Advisor™, I am constantly immersed in technology and innovation. Our project aims to harness the power of technology to provide better control and visibility over the complexities of modern life, ultimately freeing up more time to dedicate to the people we love most. However, good intentions can sometimes lead to unintended consequences, prompting me to reflect on past outcomes to better plan for the future. Through this reflection, I’ve come to realize that while these advancements have significantly impacted our lives, it’s crucial for us to remember and celebrate the deeper meaning and purpose that lies at the core of our existence.

As Easter approaches, I find myself contemplating the story of Jesus Christ’s ultimate sacrifice and the powerful message of love, grace, and togetherness it embodies. While not everyone who reads this may personally know or believe in Jesus Christ, his story is profoundly inclusive and universally resonant. In these challenging times, where division and intolerance seem prevalent, I believe that embracing the teachings and values exemplified by Jesus Christ can guide us towards a more compassionate and unified world.

Looking back on my own life, I remember how my parents utilized every available “village resource” – family, friends, and the church – to create a positive environment and guide us as kids. They intentionally restricted access to certain people and things, and if they allowed us to venture out to someplace questionable, we had to debrief once we got home. Our future freedoms were determined in those moments, and we knew better than not to tell the truth. Though we didn’t make it easy for them, despite the everyday challenges they faced, my parents worked tirelessly as a team to find the proper balance for our spirits to soar while grounding us with accountability to the moral values they held so dear.

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” – Matthew 6:21

We might have had less material wealth than most, but we shared an abundance of love, and with it came greater accountability for our actions towards one another. We learned early on that it was our privilege to do whatever our parents asked, and the standard was non-negotiable: “do it right or do it twice.” Though I still made mistakes and learned tough lessons from them, as I grew older, the mistakes became less frequent, past experiences transformed into wisdom, and I became a better person for it. By submitting to and embracing these principles, we allow God’s words to soften our hearts, creating a solid foundation for our lives and improving the quality of our relationships.

Proverbs 1:7 teaches, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” This understanding of accountability and respect forms the basis of love and compassion for ourselves and others. Regrettably, it appears that society is drifting away from these values, creating a perilous atmosphere where the consequences of our actions are minimized or overlooked entirely. By embracing and sharing the wisdom of the Bible, we can reestablish our connection with these core principles and, through our example, positively impact the world around us.

The Easter story stands as a testament to the power of faith and the transformative effect it can have on our lives. Jesus Christ, the most influential activist in history, used his compassionate and tolerant nature to spread the message of love, forgiveness, and understanding. His unwavering commitment to these principles and the timeless example he set serve as an enduring blueprint for peacefully inspiring radical change for countless generations.

Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection symbolize the victory of love and forgiveness over hatred and sin. As we commemorate this sacred event, let us remember the importance of extending grace and forgiveness to ourselves and others, just as Jesus has done for us.

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged.” – Matthew 7:1

In a world where differing opinions often lead to conflicts and division, Jesus’ message of tolerance and understanding is more critical than ever. He taught us to love our neighbors as ourselves, regardless of their beliefs or backgrounds. By embracing this principle, we can foster a more inclusive and accepting society, bridging the gap between different cultures, religions, and ideologies.

As the leader of a company that values innovation and progress, I also acknowledge the importance of integrating Jesus Christ’s teachings into our daily lives and work. At Robo Advisor™, we strive to conduct our business with integrity, empathy, and genuine concern for the well-being of our clients, colleagues, and humanity as a whole. By adhering to these principles, we not only honor Jesus’ teachings but also create a positive and supportive environment for everyone involved.

I believe that we all have a role to play in promoting harmony and understanding in our society

As individuals, we can make a conscious effort to listen to others’ perspectives, even when we don’t agree with them. By engaging in open and respectful dialogue, we can break down barriers, foster empathy, and discover common ground—of which there is plenty to be found.

We are truly blessed to live in a country that allows for the freedom of so many diverse opinions. America’s greatness lies in its ability to embrace and respect these differences, creating a rich tapestry of ideas and beliefs. This freedom is something to be thankful for, and it is our responsibility to protect and cherish it as we work towards a more harmonious world.

“Love your neighbor as yourself.” – Matthew 22:39

As a community, we can come together to support those in need and collaborate to achieve shared goals. By offering kind words, lending a helping hand, or volunteering our time and resources, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of others, demonstrating the power of compassion and teamwork.

In our families, we can nurture values such as love, kindness, and forgiveness, setting an example for future generations to follow. It is true that everyday time constraints create a challenge to balance life’s demands, and the tendency to postpone quality moments with our loved ones for seemingly more pressing issues is a common problem we all share. By fostering a sense of moral responsibility to connect with those closest to us, we create a welcoming and supportive atmosphere that encourages personal growth and understanding. Instead of succumbing to the temptation to delay these moments, let us draw inspiration from the courage, fearlessness, and unwavering faith of Jesus Christ. His bravery and resolute belief in his mission have made a lasting impact on humanity, inspiring generations to live with empathy and determination.

By instilling these principles in our children, we can help them grow into empathetic and responsible adults who contribute positively to the world around them. Let us seize the opportunity to strengthen our relationships, share our faith, and create a lasting legacy of love, understanding, and harmony for the future.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” – Matthew 7:7

As we celebrate Easter this year, I pray we remember the profound message of love, grace, and togetherness that Jesus Christ’s sacrifice represents. Through faith and a commitment to living by his teachings, we can build bridges, heal divisions, and create a more harmonious world for all.

I wish you and your loved ones a blessed and joyful Easter.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey J. Hovermale
